'Lady' and also the champion

A film premiere is definitely an odd spot to launch a political career, but that did not stop "The Iron Lady" helmer Phyllida Lloyd from tossing her weight behind Meryl Streep. "Meryl for leader!" Lloyd excited prior to the film's Gotham premiere Tuesday in the Ziegfeld.Streep, who nailed Britain's polarizing Pm Margaret Thatcher, stated she favors to order her political ambitions for that bigscreen. "Over my dead body!" she quipped of Lloyd's suggestion. Still, if she did choose to have a run at office, the decorated thesp includes a unique platform: "My platform could be heels. I'd operate on platform heels. They are a lot better than stilettos."Film writer Abi Morgan summarized the film's appeal, particularly for that preem's female-heavy crowd, which incorporated trailblazers Billie Jean King, Gloria Steinem and Christiane Amanpour."Meryl and that i laugh and say it's 'King Lear' for women," stated Morgan. Meanwhile, revelers embarked 10 blocks towards the Royalton to have an after-party, in which the usual bloodstream pudding and meat pies were changed with shrimp, hamburgers and grilled vegetables.
